Seattle Food Events Calendar Highlights Nov 30 – Dec 6

Looking for Food Events? As of January, 2009, please see my new site: www.FreshPickedSeattle.com!

Not a lot to add this week, and some of the events to note have been noted before…but they bear repeating!  Details and contact info in the events themselves in the Seattle Food Events Calendar.

Highlights...

Saturday, Dec 1: Lots to do!  Of special note…

  • The Sons of Norway are holding a Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner that’s open to the public.  Not so much the meatballs for me, but if you are feeling adventurous and want to try some lutefisk.
  • Braiden Rex-Johnson will be signing her new book, Pacific Northwest Wining and Dining: The People, Places, Food, and Drink of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia, at the Mill Creek University of Washington Bookstore.
  • Holiday Progressive Dinner Tour in the evening…not sure if there are any spots left but some of us are going!

Sunday, Dec 2: West Seattle Farmer’s Market is having a special holiday market including mule rides. (!) Don’t get excited, though.  It’s for the kids.  They get everything.

Monday, Dec 3: PCC has several Food Packaging Work Parties.  The events are to “help package bulk foods purchased with PCC Food Bank Program donations from PCC shoppers.”  On Monday, the Kirkland PCC is holding their event.  There are more opportunities to help at other locations on different dates, so please check the PCC website for more chances to help out.

Tuesday, Dec 4: Queen Anne’s Science on Tap will be happening at 7pm at T.S. McHugh’s Irish Pub.  Topic: Mechanisms of Antibiotic Resistance.

Tuesday is also the first night of HanukkahEating Well has an article on eating healthy for the holiday.

Wednesday, Dec 5: The Tasting Room is having a $15 tasting event to celebrate its fifth year in the market.

Also on Wednesday, Greenlake, Eastlake and Southlake Bar & Grill are all offering 3 courses for $30, with $20 going to the University District Food Bank.  Additionally, “1/2 of all other Restaurant Sales goes to the food bank too, and bring 2 Large cans of Food and get 1 Free Drink (1 per customer).”
