CIY Project True Confessions: I Have Lost Track of the Days

(Posting on the main page instead of CIY Project page partially to make my admission more public but really primarily to push down the picture of my injury because seriously that’s enough of that.)

So this True Confession is for the past few days, ending with today, Tuesday, Feb 19.

I haven’t fallen out the wagon yet, but really, my eating has been, for the most part, so haphazard yet dullsville that I am just not motivated to try to make a pictorial narrative of my daily diet to post on the project page. I went to film school; I have high expectations for the visual interest of anything I produce.

My short-cutting mind has already figured out the easiest ways to make a drive-through out of my own house: the rice cooker.

I’ll be starving and too busy to make something, too disorganized to have taken something out of the freezer the day before, and so will simply throw some brown rice into the rice cooker, go write another BuddyTV story or review some more resumes for my day job, and wander back over a half hour later to scoop out the cooked rice, which I then top with tamari. (And eat with a side of white wine, she also confessed.)

On the other hand, I spent all weekend totally engrossed in egregiously-complicated cooking projects. Totally fun and I’m not criticizing myself for it, but alternating between mindless, shoving-nutrients-into-my-maw eating and my own particularly baroque version of binge-cooking is not actually really changing my essential problem with how I manage feeding myself.

In short, this isn’t really what I intended to be doing with this project.

BUT! I am obstinate and I don’t like to admit defeat so if you think these momentary setbacks mean the end of the CIY Project, you thought wrong, buster!

I am still going to be a bit crazedmatazed the next few days but I plan to have a new focus for the project that I will be posting about soon.
